A client operating multiple companies across different regions needed to consolidate financial and regulatory data efficiently.
While Business Central (Microsoft Dynamics NAV) provided strong reporting features, it was designed to work per entity, making multi-company reporting complex and manual.
We built a centralised data hub using Microsoft SQL Server, integrating data from all entities into a single source of truth. Each data object—clients, ledgers, compliance records—was assigned a unique company ID, ensuring seamless multi-entity analysis.
To capture additional data, we leveraged APIs for real-time synchronisation every 15 minutes, without disrupting existing systems.
To ensure data security and compliance, we implemented:
🔒 Row-level security using Business Central’s user and company permissions, ensuring users only access data they’re authorised to see.
🔒 GDPR-compliant policies, including encryption and retention policies to protect sensitive data.
🔒 Data erasure monitoring to verify that GDPR retention policies were properly applied and configured.
For regulatory reporting, we introduced daily data trending, enabling the client to access historical data snapshots—such as year-end positions—at any point in time. This eliminates the challenge of reconstructing past financial positions, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
We also introduced proactive alerting and monitoring for key events, such as FX rate consumption and MT950 transactions. Now, if an issue arises, business users are immediately notified, ensuring quick resolution and uninterrupted operations.
